"God bless Mary O'Mally!" This prayer is our payment to an Irish couple, who helped us navigate the narrow streets and blind alleys of Leon late last night to find our hotel. When they dropped off our bags and said goodbye, the husband turned and said "say a prayer for Mary O'Mally!"
Also, God bless St Elvis (Laurel canonized him on the spot, when he found us a taxi in 5 minutes, in the town of Reliegos, that technically doesn't have a taxi) after we literally "bugged out" of the Albergue Parades, when Betty discovered, and Laurel confirmed, an infestation of chinches (bedbugs). And finally, God bless Alphonsia, our "taxi" driver who just happened to be sitting in Elvis' Bar when Laurel inquired about a taxi at 22:00 last night. He safely delivered us to the sanctuary of the Cathedral of Leon.
All of the churches that we pass daily are starting to rub off on us and we are beginning to experience faith in the kindness of strangers. Sidebar: God #%!@ the manager of Albergue Parades; he knows he has a bedbug problem, yet he still keeps renting out the rooms and spreading them around. I guess we will have to work on forgiveness during the last stages of the Camino.
